Commercial deep freeze and cold storage warehouses face an unusual engineering challenge: their industrial deep-freeze units can get so cold that they cause earth heaving below them that could crack the concrete slab they sit on. The freezer section of this warehouse is 30,000 sq ft, but our crew is more than capable of this task.
The solution: Hydronic radiant heating. We designed a system to heat the base-level concrete slab directly below the freezers. We need them to be warm enough to protect the foundation’s structural integrity, but carefully calibrated to avoid any interference with the freezers’ sub-zero operating temperatures.
