Electric Radiant Systems work by utilizing electrical resistance to heat coiled cables installed underneath the floor. Because these systems do not rely on the heating and transfer of water, they are very simple to install and maintain. Additionally, the Infloor Electric Cables, whether High Output or Low Profile, can heat a variety of materials including ceramic tile, stone, wood, vinyl and even carpet. This flexibility in design is meant to ensure that your installation is unencumbered by the existing materials in your home. For a stone or tile floor, all that is needed is a layer of thin-set or mortar to set the cables directly under the floor. For hardwood, laminate, vinyl, or carpet you will need to set a thin layer of self-leveling cement directly atop the cables, between the cables and the floor covering. Typically, Electric Radiant systems are ideal for new construction, re-models, and heating a limited, specific area.
